A B O U T.

that's us.

A FEW FUN FACTS:
Me: I love knitting in the car on road trips.
I'm a Vegetarian... actually a Pescatarian {I eat fish}.
I spelt my middle name wrong for the first 12 years of my life... It's Mae, not May.
I played Volleyball in college.
When I was little I wanted to be a professional figure skater.
The Fireman: He definitely is not a Vegetarian.
He surfs, paddle boards, snowboards, and likes sports that involve a board.
He has a very contagious laugh.
He eats a Rib-Eye steak almost every night.
He secretly loves going to flea markets with me... i know he does! (he just hasn't admitted it yet.)

PHOTO'S:
What kind of camera do you use?
I use a Nikon D90 camera with a Nikon zoom lens & a Nikon prime lens.
Who takes your photos?
The fireman takes the photos of me for my "What I Wore's" and I take all the rest!
Do you have any photo tips?
I do! I personally love a photo that are focused on the main subject and have a semi-blurred out background. So to accomplish this look I shoot with a pretty wide aperture {anywhere from 1.5-4 depending on the situation}.

WORK:
How do you guys bring home the bacon?
Me: After years of working in the fashion industry I have held many different jobs and titles from Buying for large corporations to Managing high-end retail boutiques. I've now branched off to work for myself as a Personal Wardrobe Stylist & Fashion Consultant. Which means I spend a lot of time in my clients closets or shopping for them to help build their fabulous wardrobes. I also work as a Wardrobe Stylist for editorial photo shoots and ad campaigns. Working with clothing and staying in the loop on all current trends has opened the door of Trend Reporting. I write a monthly LA Trend Report for a couple east coast companies. And that's what I do!
The Fireman: Well, he's a fireman {& a Paramedic}! He has worked for a station in the LA area for the past 8 years and loves helping people. He's a keeper.

SOME HISTORY:
Where we're you two born & raised?
Me: Redondo Beach, CA
The Fireman: Hermosa Beach, CA & Ventura, CA
Have you ever lived in another country?

Yes! I studied in London for 8 months in college... It was amazing. Such a cool city!
Where do you two love-birds live now?

Redondo Beach in a cute little beach cottage with our pup Charlie!
How long have you guys been together?
 almost 4 years :)

SHOPPING:
What are your favorite Flea Markets?

I love the Long Beach Flea Market. I have scored many many times there. It's just big enough to get some good variety, but not too big were I feel like I can only make it through two rows. I also like the Rose Bowl... but that is one large Flea Market.
Where are your favorite places to shop in LA?

I will have to turn this question into a post... Because my answer is a little too long. Stay tuned.
Do you shop Sample Sales?

Yes! I started shopping at Sample Sales {monthly} with my mom & grandma when I was 7 years old. I credit those treasure hunts {and stylish ladies} for my original interest in the fashion industry.

FOOD:
What's your favorite kind of food?
Me: Thai, Indian, Japanese, Farm-to-Table and Mexican. I can't choose. (oh, and I really love sweets too!)
The Fireman: Meat... & Farm-to-Table.
What is Farm-to-Table?
It's local fresh food that is now being prepared in local hot spots... like GJelina & Tin Roof! YUM.
Where are your favorite places to eat in LA?
Oh, that's tough. I'll have to turn this into a blog post too. Stay tuned.
How many nights a week do you guys cook at home?
Well this all depends on how many nights the fireman is home. I would say we cook at home about 80% of the time... 10% is take-out... & the other 10% is a date-night. (we like cooking while watching Chopped... or any other good cooking show.)

STYLIST TOOLS:
What are your favorite Stylist Tools right now?

-I love Top Stick. It's the best double sided tape in the world! (it's made to hold toupee's on!)
-AeroTan by Big Sexy Hair. This is the best spray-tan-in-a-bottle if you need a last minute (natural-looking) tan. I use this on my legs if I want to a skirt or dress when i'm a little to pale. This stuff works.
-Mini Hand Steamer from Bed, Bath & Beyond. It's the best little steamer in the world! I use it at home only, when I need to only steam one or two things quickly. And this steamer has some major power... I'd say just as much (if not more) them my big industrial steamer. It's the real deal.

well i hope this isn't TMI and you all enjoyed getting to know us a bit better!
